A name on a chain is the most personal piece of gold you can wear — it's been a fixture of jewelry culture for fifty years, and it's one of our most requested custom builds. The chain + pendant builder lets you design one online: pick your material, chain width, up to 3 characters, and a letter style, with the pendant included in a fixed price.
Here's how to get the design right the first time.
The Four Decisions
1. Material. Three tiers, each with the pendant and two characters included:
- Brass with CZ letters, from $397 — the entry tier. Hand-set CZ letters on a brass Cuban chain. The look, at the price of a night out.
- Sterling silver with moissanite letters, from $1,997 — moissanite letters on a .925 silver Cuban. Real metal, near-diamond sparkle. See our moissanite vs diamonds guide for why moissanite is the smart middle tier.
- Premium by quote, from $10,000 — solid gold chains, natural diamonds, fully bespoke one-of-one work. This is where a name piece becomes an heirloom — think a solid gold Cuban with diamond-set letters. Call (206) 250-0833 and we'll quote it with you.
2. Chain width. The builder offers 8mm to 20mm. Under 10mm reads clean and everyday; 12–16mm is the classic name-chain proportion; 20mm puts the letters on a billboard. Width also interacts with length — see our gold chain length guide for fit.
3. Characters. Up to 3 letters or numbers in the fixed-price menu (the third adds $97). Initials, a short name, a number that means something. Longer names and phrases need a custom quote — and honestly, a full name across the chest is one of the great custom builds, so ask.
4. Letter style. Sleek, bubble, or black letters are included; circle letters add $197. Bubble is the classic hip-hop look, sleek reads modern, circle letters bring the old-school flavor.
