How to Design Your Own Grillz Online: A Step-by-Step Guide

Custom grillz used to mean walking into a shop, pointing at a wall of samples, and hoping the final piece matched what you pictured. Our grillz builder changed that: you choose every option yourself — teeth, metal, cuts, stones, fangs, finish — and watch a fixed, final price update as you build. No surprises at checkout.
Here's how to design your set, step by step, plus the details (metals, stones, timelines) that help you choose well the first time.
Step 1: Choose Your Teeth
Start with placement: top, bottom, or both. Then tap the teeth you want covered. A single tooth or the two canines reads subtle; a full eight-tooth top set is the classic look. Every combination updates your price instantly — see our single tooth vs full set guide for help thinking through coverage.
If you want a starting point instead of a blank slate, the builder includes preset looks — Classic Open Face 6, Single Fang, Diamond Dust 8, Ruby Statement 6 — that you can load and then modify.
Step 2: Pick Your Metal
This is the biggest price and quality decision:
- Sterling silver (.925) — the entry point, from around $150 for a single tooth. Real metal, never plated. See the silver grillz collection.
- Solid 10K gold — the most affordable solid gold, harder-wearing, slightly paler. Browse 10K gold grillz.
- Solid 14K gold — the standard. Rich color, durable, holds polish for years. Our most-built metal in the 14K gold grillz collection.
- 18K and 22K gold — deeper color, higher metal content. For statement pieces and collectors.
- Rose gold — 14K rose gold is a popular twist: rose gold grillz.
The karat trade-offs are the same as for chains — our 10K vs 14K guide breaks down hardness, color, and value.
Step 3: Choose Your Design — Cuts, Stones, Fangs
This is where your set becomes yours:
- Cuts and finishes: diamond-cut patterns, diamond dust, perm cut, princess cut, sunburst — each catches light differently. The gold diamond cut grillz collection shows the range.
- Open face: windows cut into the face of each tooth so your enamel shows through — a favorite for a natural-plus-gold look. See open face vs solid gold grillz.
- Stones: from CZ to moissanite to natural diamond. Moissanite delivers near-diamond fire at a fraction of the price — our moissanite grillz collection and VVS moissanite vs diamonds guide cover the honest comparison.
- Fangs: extended canines, single or paired — the fang grillz collection.
Step 4: Review and Order
The builder shows your complete design and fixed total — verified again on our server before checkout. After you order, your mold kit ships right away. Take the impression at home with the prepaid return kit, or book a fitting at the Renton showroom and we'll take it for you.
From approved mold: plain and cut grillz take about three weeks; moissanite and stone-set designs four to five weeks. Full background in how custom grillz are made and how long custom grillz last.
What It Costs
Single-tooth sterling silver starts around $150; fully iced-out solid gold sets run $2,500 and up. Because every price in the builder is fixed, you can compare options against your budget live.
