The Bennett Legacy — 50 Years, Three Generations
The Bennett Legacy
50 Years. Three Generations.
From Fred Bennett Creations in downtown Seattle to Seattle Gold Grills in Renton, the Bennett family has worked in jewelry for 50 years — 1976–2026.
1976 — The First Store
In February 1976, Fred Bennett Sr. opened the Bennett family’s first jewelry store, Fred Bennett Creations, at Westlake Mall in Seattle. That beginning established a family jewelry tradition built around custom work, craftsmanship and personal service.
1981 — Documented by EBONY
Five years into the business, Fred Bennett Sr. and Fred Bennett Creations appeared in the September 1981 issue of EBONY Magazine. The original page identified him as the owner of a downtown Seattle jewelry store and documented that he had been designing jewelry through the business for five years.
Generation Two — Fred Bennett Jr.
Fred Bennett Jr. carried the family jewelry tradition forward as the second generation. Over time, the work expanded across fine jewelry, custom pieces, grillz, chains and pendants, engagement jewelry and relationships with a new generation of customers.
Generation Three — JoJo
Today, Fred Bennett III — JoJo — works alongside his father. His involvement marks the third generation of the Bennett family in the jewelry business and connects the standards established by Fred Bennett Sr. with the next chapter of the craft.
2026 — 50 Years
February 2026 marked exactly 50 years since the first Fred Bennett Creations store opened in Seattle. The anniversary is not simply a measure of time. It represents three generations learning, adapting and continuing a family craft through major changes in jewelry, retail, culture and technology.
What began with Fred Bennett Sr. in 1976 continues through Fred Bennett Jr. and JoJo in 2026.
Craftsmanship, Then and Now
The way customers discover and design jewelry has changed, but the finished work still depends on human judgment and skill. Seattle Gold Grills now uses interactive design experiences for custom grillz, chains and engagement rings to help customers communicate ideas before the hands-on jewelry process begins.
